Oct. 24, 2009 Update from the road
Glenn has made his way into Austin, Texas after traveling 1,780 miles. He's taking a much needed break to spend some time in the city before returning to the
road. Before arriving in Austin, Glenn traveled from El Paso across southern texas through Fort Stockton, Sonora and Kerrville. Meeting new friends along the way he's
shared the story of his efforts to help the people of Bandhwad village. Have a look at some of the amazing photos he's taken in the slideshow above. Glenn is now 4
weeks and 5 days into his cross-country journey. He'll be stocking up on supplies and heading back out on the road tomorrow. Just 1,312 miles separate Glenn from his
destination in St. Augustine, FL. Support Glenn's cross-country ride and help the entire Bandhwad community thrive.

Oct. 8, 2009 Update from the road
After 870 miles of riding Glenn has pulled into Las Cruces, NM. The last few days have thrown some mechanical troubles at Glenn with a total of 6 broken wheel spokes. Glenn has kept an upbeat spirit however, forging on despite the mechanical problems. After a quick tune-up in Las Cruces, he'll be moving on to El Paso, TX. Glenn is almost a third of the way through his journey, spreading word of his cause to his network and all the people he's met along his trip thus far Glenn has raised $1,125! Check back frequently as we track Glenn's progress over the next 2,222 miles.

Dear Friends,
I am leading efforts to raise funds for the Bandhwad Village Sanitation Facilities project. 1Well is unique in that it allows individuals and communities the opportunity to give directly to specific projects. You see exactly where and how your donation will be utilized, and 100% of donations go directly towards the project. These projects greatly impact the communities in which they serve. The dollar goes a long way in India (project costs are low compared to what they'd be here), so raising the needed funds for these projects is attainable for individuals and communities.
I discovered 1Well in my research for a recent trip I took to India. I found the people of India to be very warm and welcoming. This was especially the case in small towns and villages like the ones 1Well & SEWA partner with. I would like to return that warmth and hospitality by taking on this project. I will be traveling by bicycle across the US in an effort to raise awareness for 1Well and this project. If you feel inspired to donate towards this project, that would be great! Even a little amount makes a difference. Or, if you feel inclined, you and your community can take on a project of your own. Either way, know that your donation and commitment will help to uplift a community in need.
Thanks for partnering,
Glenn
About Bandhwad
Health and sanitation has become an issue for the village of Bandhwad, a small rural community that currently lacks plumbing and access to toilet facilities. Community members are forced to walk to the village outskirts to relieve themselves in effort to avoid contaminating water sources, and children often have to leave class due to the school’s lack of sanitation facilities. This lack of basic sanitation has dramatically increased the infection rate of disease throughout the village, in addition to affecting the productivity of adults and schooling of children in the community. This is especially detrimental to the sick and elderly.
Glenn's Project
Glenn's Sanitation Project will fund the construction of 16 indoor sanitation units throughout Bandhwad, providing village households with access to proper indoor sanitation facilities. Local engineers will construct two separate facilities for men and women, each with 8 toilets and soak pit (sustainable, rural sewage treatment) units. This will also allow the community members to regain the time they used to spend walking to the outskirts of the village for more productive activities, and drastically reduce the spread of disease. In addition, children will be able to attend school with fewer interruptions. Glenn's project will greatly improve the health and well-being of the entire Bandhwad community.
Join Glenn and partner with Bandhwad village to provide the basic sanitation infrastructure required to support a healthy and positive community.
