Meet Vadgam Village! Vadgam is a rural community in Surendranagar District in Gujarat, India. In Vadgam, villagers rely on agriculture, cattle-rearing and salt-farming for their livelihood, and the village even has its own bus stop. But Vadgam has no toilets. Read more...
Toilets are something we don’t often think twice about, but when we don’t have them, it’s an emergency. Villagers in Vadgam must walk long distances to relieve themselves. This means workers lose hours of income, children miss school, and women face humiliation when someone walks by as they are relieving themselves. This all leads to unsanitary conditions and spreads disease.
Vadgam is looking to partner with a Citizen Philanthropist like you. By organizing your friends and family to support the construction of 10 toilets ($2,000), you can fundamentally improve living conditions in Vadgam. With toilets, workers will earn more income, children will be in school, and hygiene will improve. 70 villagers will earn income while constructing the toilet facilities. Plus, you’ll have forged a permanent bond between your community and a community in need. Get started and become the Citizen Philanthropist for Vadgam!
